Are you ready for it? You must be because here you are.

The best writing tip you’ll ever hear is one that you have probably heard a thousand times.

Write. Write. Write.

Second tip.

Read. Read. Read.

Write about everything. Read about everything. Fill yourself up and then let it all out on paper or on the keyboard or whatever you choose. The only way you will improve is to practice. There is no secret formula. Yes, there are hundreds of books on the market that will help you improve, but you don’t have to go searching for this one great idea that will make you better. It’s simple. Just write. Don’t make it more complicated than it needs to be. Yes, do your research, but don’t be fooled into thinking there is a secret anecdote. There isn’t.

Grab some books that have advice in them from actual writers. Read On Writing by Stephen King. Get yourself a copy of the Writer’s Market. Fill your bookshelves with information. Schedule time to read. Schedule time to write, and do it. Stick to it, and you will find, day after day, week after week, that you are definitely improving.

Then, you can get your portfolio stacked, prepare a resume and cover letter, and start marketing yourself, but that’s a completely different topic.

What are you waiting for? Go write something. Look around your room and describe what you see in as much detail as you can, and then chop it down to get it tight. Say more with less. Take time with your dictionary and thesaurus. Get an app that exposes you to new words everyday. Keep growing. Don’t stop.
